Dikshunyopur Eco Stay

Dikshunyopur Eco Stay is a seven-bedroom riverside resort on the bank of the Neora River at Lataguri, in the Dooars of North Bengal. It sits near the Neora bridge off NH-31, about ten minutes by road from Gorumara National Park, which makes it a handy base for a jungle safari without staying in the busy market strip.

The Neora runs right past the property, and that is what most guests remember: the sound of water at night, open riverbank in front of you, and birds in the trees along the bank. If you are looking for a homestay in Lataguri that feels a little removed from the hotels on the highway, this is the quieter option.

The property has seven bedrooms and seven bathrooms and can take up to 22 guests, so it works well for extended families and groups who want to book most of the place. Two room types are open for booking with us:

• Double Bed Room — for two guests, ₹1,900 per person
• Quad Room — for up to four guests, ₹1,700 per person

Breakfast is included in the rate. Free Wi-Fi and free parking are available, and the property is set up for families, couples and older travellers alike.

Breakfast comes with your stay. Lunch, dinner and evening snacks can be arranged on site; tell us your preferences when you book, especially if you are travelling with children or need vegetarian meals, and we will pass them to the kitchen.

Most guests come for Gorumara, but the property itself gives you plenty to fill the hours between safaris:

• Jungle safari in Gorumara National Park, booked locally
• Boating on the river, depending on water levels
• Birdwatching along the Neora and the forest edge
• Cycling and slow village walks around Lataguri
• A bonfire in the evening, which is the best part of a winter stay

Gorumara National Park is the main reason to be in Lataguri. It is known for the Indian one-horned rhinoceros, elephants, gaur and deer, and safaris here are built around its forest watchtowers rather than long drives. Safari permits are sold locally near the forest booking counter in Lataguri, and in the cool season they go quickly, so plan your slot as soon as you arrive.

Lataguri is also a gateway to the wider Dooars. Malbazar, Jaldhaka, Jhalong and Chapramari are within day-trip range, and Jaldapara and Buxa are possible on a longer circuit.

The nearest railhead is New Jalpaiguri (NJP), and the nearest airport is Bagdogra. From either, hire a car through Siliguri and head east towards Malbazar; Lataguri sits on NH-31, and the property is near the Neora bridge, close to Neora More. Travellers coming by train can also get off at Malbazar or Jalpaiguri Road, which are closer. Share your arrival time and we can help you arrange a car.

The cool, dry months from November to March are the best time for Gorumara and for the Dooars generally: pleasant days, cold nights for the bonfire, and better wildlife sightings. Note that Gorumara National Park closes every year from mid-June to mid-September for the monsoon and the breeding season. The resort stays open in the rains, when the forest is at its greenest and the Neora is in full flow, but safaris are not possible then.
